We’ve all heard of vegans who don’t eat any animal products.  Well, have you heard of fruitarians who feed on stricter rules than vegans? Do you know fruitarianism?

What is Fruitarianism?

Fruitarianism is a diet in which fruits are at the forefront. People who follow this diet are called frutarian.  Frutarians have stricter rules than vegans.  They don’t eat any animal-based foods. Even they don’t eat vegetables.  Because fruitarians argue that plants have a right to live as well and they believe that plants suffer when consumed.

Why Do They Only Eat Fruit?

Fruitarianism is a diet devoid of plant and animal products.  So why isn’t fruit forbidden?  Because fruitarians think that the seeds of fruits reach different parts of nature in this way.  According to Fruitarianism, it is of great importance to ensure that the seeds of the fruit are transported far away. For this reason, fruitarians eat the fruit with peace of mind.

What Are the Disadvantages of the Fruitarian Diet?

Fruits actually have a positive effect on human health.  However, it is important that the consumption of fruit is as much as we need. Eating only fruit at every meal can harm our health. Because fruits do not contain all of the daily nutrients we need.

  • Fruits contain almost no protein. Proteins are abundant in meat, fish, dairy and meat products, nuts, seeds and broad beans. In the Fruitarian diet, protein is obtained only from a limited amount of seeds and nuts.
  • Fruits contain sugars that require little or no digestion. As a result, a diet high in sugar will lead to an imbalance in blood sugar levels.
  • Fruits do not contain substances that the body needs, such as calcium, iron, phosphorus, zinc, vitamin D.
  • If you follow this diet plan, you may face omega-3 fatty acid deficiency. Because omega-3 fatty acids come primarily from oily fish. Only flaxseed and walnuts contain very small amounts of omega-3 fatty acids. This is not enough for our health.
